CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Equity Residential (NYSE: EQR) today announced the appointment of Linda Walker Bynoe to the company's Board of Trustees, effective as of December 16, 2009, to serve until the next annual meeting of shareholders. Ms. Bynoe qualifies as an independent trustee under the New York Stock Exchange's listing standards.

Ms. Bynoe, 57, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Telemat Ltd, a privately-held project management and consulting firm based in Chicago, Illinois. In this role she advises clients in numerous industry sectors on strategic planning, capital restructuring and financial reporting.

Ms. Bynoe serves as a director of The Northern Trust Corporation (NASDAQ: NTRS); Simon Property Group (NYSE: SPG); Anixter Inc. (NYSE: AXE); Fidelity Life Association and Prudential Retail Mutual Funds. She holds a B.S. from Northeastern University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business.
